Prof. Ing. Ján Híveš, PhD. is a graduate of the Faculty of Chemical Technology of the Slovak University of Technology (STU) in Bratislava. He successfully completed his doctoral studies at the University of Chemical Technology in Prague in 1991 and in 2010 was appointed a professor in Inorganic Technology and Materials. At present, he is director of the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, Technology and Materials at Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology STU in Bratislava. He is engaged in research and teaching in chemical technologies, especially in technical electrochemistry. Recently, he has been working on special technologies related to environmental protection for the treatment of hazardous materials and wastes. He is a successful investigator involved in a number of research and development projects for domestic and foreign companies.
For his long-term outstanding scientific results and teaching in electrochemistry, he received the Professor of the Year award from STU in 2014. In 2019, he was awarded the Scientist of the Year prize in the category of Innovator of the Year for research and development of technology for the production of a strong iron-based „green“ oxidant capable of ecologically eliminating a wide range of micropollutants in the environment.
