Ing. Peter Balík, MA is General Director of the Innovation, Strategic Investment and Analysis Section (HUB) at the Ministry of Investment, Regional Development and Informatisation of the Slovak Republic helping shape the Slovak innovation and start-up strategy aimed at enhancing the Slovak business environment and providing Slovak government support for innovative business ideas. He gained experience as a political adviser in the European Union delegation to the UN in New York and subsequently during the Czech Presidency of the European Union Council, where he worked in the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the UN. He acted as an assistant to a member of the Slovak Parliament and also as an expert in the team of the Joint Assistance to Support Projects in European Regions/JASPERS (operating under the European Investment Bank), where he focused on projects funded from the European Structural and Investment Funds in innovation, research and development as well as promotion of smart cities. He has also worked abroad on a long-term basis as a strategic consultant in various consulting companies and in several international organisations, including the European Parliament in Brussels and in the United Nations in New York.
