Pavol Rafajdus was born in 1971. In 1995 he graduated from the Žilina University of Transport and Communications, Faculty of Electrical Engineering specialising in electric drives. He completed his doctoral studies in 2002 at the same faculty in heavy current electrical engineering specialising in electrical machinery and devices. Since 1998 he has been teaching at the University of Žilina in Žilina. From 2005 he worked as a senior lecturer and from 2015 has been acting as a professor. The main area of his research comprises electrical machines, their design and optimisation and their use in the automotive industry or in electromobility. Since 2018, he has been Vice-Chancellor for Science and Research at the University of Žilina.
