Prof. Dr. Ing. Jaroslav Šálka studied forestry, specialising in social aspects at the Technical University in Zvolen and the Georg-August University in Göttingen. In his teaching and scientific research, he focuses on forestry and environmental policy and innovations in the forestry and wood-processing complex. As an investigator involved in international projects, he addressed the issue of innovation potential, innovative behaviour of forest enterprises, and innovative systems for supporting innovation in forestry. He is currently engaged in projects aimed at practical aspects, such as the optimisation of forest use considering the interests of various stakeholders. He conducts research into knowledge transfer in forestry policy based on analysis of the interface between politicians and universities.
As Vice-Chancellor for Research, he manages the newly established Technology Transfer Office at the Technical University of Zvolen. The Office provides comprehensive technology transfer services at the Technical University in Zvolen, including exercising industrial property rights, contract research, networking and business incubation.
