Ján Horecký

Mgr. Ján Horecký is a Slovak pedagogue, since October 4th appointed as Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic in the government led by Eduard Heger.

In 1991-1997 years, he worked as a teacher of mathematics and geography at the Ján Papánek Secondary Grammar School in Bratislava. In 1997-1999 he subsequently acted as a manager of Novohradská foundation which aim is providing material support of educational process in Novohradská 3 United School with Jur Hronec Secondary Grammar School as one of its organisational units up to the present. Horecký also taught mathematics at this secondary school till 2003. Until 2001 he was a coordinator of non-profit organization International Baccalaureate international programme.

Between 2004–2008 he taught at the United School at Tilgnerova 14 in Bratislava. In 2008 he became the Principal of the Catholic St. Francis United School, a position he held until 2020. Between 2011–2019 Horecký served as the chairman of the Union of Catholic Schools in Slovakia. In January 2022 he became the Director of Felix, a network of private schools.

In 2006, 2014 and 2018 he was elected as a councillor of the Karlova Ves borough of Bratislava that launched his political carrier as well. He commented on long years spent in education work for www.nasa-bratislava.sk portal in next words: “Investing the life in reasonable things, joy of occasions to participate in good things as high-quality environment for children´s growth and development, families´ life and local communities building makes me happy.”
