Michal Kompan graduated at Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. Currently he works as a researcher (Kempelen Institute of Intelligence Technologies) in artificial intelligence, personalised recommendations, user modelling and information retrieval. He specifically focuses on recommender systems in e-commerce, for instance the complementary products recommendations and use of various signals for development of new methods improving user´s experience on web. In KInIT company he applies experience gained at university (supervised more than 50 students), management and solution of national and international research projects (VEGA, APVV, Horizon Europe) and research cooperation with leading business companies. KInIT is a part of EDIH Hopero focused on artificial intelligence implementation into companies. He is active in international research community as a member of programme committees of top-level scientific conferences (ACM RecSys, SIGIR, TheWebConf, WSDM).
