František Jakab is Director of TECHNICOM University Science Park (www.uvptechnicom.sk), Technical University of Košice, EDIH CASSOVIUM project manager. Coordinated and participated in more than 30 grant projects and project of collaboration with industry.
He is the initiator and project manager of a successful project for testing IT skills in the Slovak Republic – IT FITNESS TEST (www.itfitness.sk); he is behind the success of the global educational initiative Cisco Networking Academies in the Slovak Republic (www. netacad.sk), where he coordinated the setting up of a network of more than 70 secondary schools and universities. Since 2008, he has held the leading position on the committee for cooperation between the academic and industrial sectors of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Slovak Republic.
He heads the Application Section of the Forum for Communication Technologies in the Slovak Republic and since 2014 he has been Chairman of the Sector Council “Information Technologies and Telecommunications” in the Slovak Republic. He is one of the founding members of the Košice IT Valley association, at present active on the board of directors. His broad range of significant activities also includes innovation and technology transfer, setting up start-ups and supporting start-up business activities: the establishment and coordination of the activities of the Start-up Centre and the TUKE Incubator (www.startupcentrum.sk).
He is author of more than 200 publications, books and textbooks. In 2006, he received the significant award “IT Personality of the Year” in the Slovak Republic and in 2010 the annual award of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Slovak Republic for the development of cooperation between academia and industry in the Slovak Republic
